Who is she?
Having enjoyed a less-than-conventional working life, beginning with delivering the mail for Canada Post, ten subsecuent years as an electrician, then estimating multi-million dollar industrial construction projets, I bring an enthusiasm for diversity, polyvalence, and rigour to my work.
I have been quiet on film sets and loud in air-handling units, installed lights in kitchens for friends, attended meetings with engineers in three countries each speaking three languages all at once, kept bees, and built a cabin out of a shipping container.
I speak English and French and am slowly learning Irish. The small town I grew up in encouraged driving cars very young, bush parties, and horseback riding. The place has since changed, but I still love horses.
In 2004, I moved to Toronto to go to university, and stayed in that city for 17 years. U of T’s departments of art history and philosophy allowed me the most freedom to take classes like marine mamalian biology, witchcraft in medieval England, Greek & Roman history, and Italian.
Betwixt and between, I attended George Brown College, and attained a masters license with the Electrical Safety Authority in Ontario. I completed Intuit’s bookkeeping certificate and have taken courses in Microsoft’s suite of programs.
I attended pottery classes at Cedar Ridge Creative Centre in Scarborough and later taught at Atelier Forma in Montréal. I have lived in France, Scotland, Ireland, and Canada.
On ordinary days I spend as much time as possible trying to grow plants in my shady yard, walking in the company of my wonderful dog, Boris, reading fiction, and playing with acrylic paint. Whenever given the chance I will swim in salty water.
